Why I built it

Research should feel connected, not scattered.

Obsidian is my main note-taking and knowledge-management app. When I work on a literature review, I need research papers, metadata, reading progress, and related notes to stay properly organized.

I wanted that entire workflow to live inside my Obsidian vault, close to the ideas and connections that emerge while I read. So I created Researcher Library: one focused place to manage papers and turn reading into linked knowledge.

It is available directly from the Obsidian Community Plugins directory, so you can find and install it without manually copying files into your vault.

Everything in one vault

Built for a more organized literature-review workflow.

Import and organize papers

Bring PDF research papers into a structured library that lives alongside the rest of your Obsidian vault.

Extract available metadata

Capture the useful details available for each paper so your library is easier to browse and maintain.

Track reading progress

Keep an eye on what you plan to read, what is in progress, and what you have already completed.

Search and sort your library

Find the right paper quickly and arrange your collection around the way you prefer to work.

Create linked research notes

Connect papers to your own notes and ideas, turning a folder of PDFs into a useful knowledge network.

Keep research local and private

Work entirely inside your Obsidian vault and keep control of your papers, metadata, and notes.

A simple workflow

From PDF to connected knowledge.

01

Add your papers

Import the PDFs you want to read and keep them together in your research library.

02

Organize your review

Use metadata, search, sorting, and reading status to keep your literature review moving.

03

Connect your thinking

Create linked notes for each paper and build connections across your research inside Obsidian.

Make your next literature review easier to manage.

Researcher Library is designed for researchers, students, and knowledge workers who want their papers and notes to stay organized, connected, local, and private.
